Program description:

Previous night: Accommodation at the Islazul Rex Hotel, breakfast included.

  • 7:00 PM Start of the walking tour accompanied by a specialized guide to the Interpretation Center of the Coffee Heritage Casa Dranguet or Café Constantin. Welcome cocktail, made with coffee.
  • Explanation of the beginnings of coffee in Cuba, the first plantations, the first settlements, as well as the French influence in the culture of the east of the country, accompanied by a coffee.
  • Transfer to the Matamoros Restaurant, where you will enjoy a Creole dinner, accompanied by traditional music.

Day 1. Fraternity

  • 7:15AM Departure by jeep to the town of Nueva Isabel where the ruins of the Fraternity Ranch are located. Enjoy the rural environment, observing the nature, the coffee environment according to the season and the stage of the productive process, as well as the animated way of life of the inhabitants in their routine.
  • Arrival at the Fraternidad coffee plantation.
  • Appreciation of the various restoration and rehabilitation works that are currently taking place in the ruins. Exchange with the archaeologists.
  • Enjoy the landscape and the different visuals towards the farm, as well as towards the plateau of Santa María del Loreto. Taking of photographs.
  • Continue the tour by jeep to the ruins of the Santa Paulina Farm, observing during the tour the batardó of the Fraternity Farm (dam used by the French to store the water they used in the agro-industrial process).
  • Time to take pictures and admire the landscape made up of gallery forests, cultural vegetation and river crossings.
  • Continue by jeep to the Llano de San Felipe, where you will start your journey by mule or walk 1.2 km to the San Luis de Jacas coffee plantation ruins, a settlement that has a majestic hydraulic system that rests on 28 arches of the carpanel type.
  • Time for photos, enjoy the landscape.
  • Continue walking uphill for approximately 1.3 km to the ruins of the San Juan de Escocia coffee plantation, where you will have unparalleled views of the area. You will also be able to observe amazing flower pots with walls that recreate various geometric shapes.
  • Time to take pictures and enjoy the landscape.
  • Start descending approximately 2.5 km to the Llano de San Felipe.
  • Return by jeep 6.3 km to the village of La Lucía.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch made with local products in the village of La Lucía, enlivened by local talent.
  • Swimming in the Baconao River, in the village of La Lucía.
  • Departure by Jeep to Yerba de Guinea and continue 36 km to the Entronque del Cristo on the National Highway.
  • Continue to the Gran Piedra Protected Natural Landscape; where 111 of the 171 ruins of French coffee plantations are found, which make up the Archaeological Landscape of the first coffee plantations in the Southeast of Cuba.
  • Ascent by jeep 14 km through the road complex that leads to La Gran Piedra.
  • Stop at the Juan Morales natural viewpoint located at km 11.5, which has excellent visuals for lovers of landscape photography.
  • Arrival at Hotel Gran Piedra. Cozy welcome in the courtyard of the hotel with the offer of fruits and natural juices.
  • Check in and transfer to the rooms.
  • Performance of the Coffee Ritual in the courtyard of the hotel.
  • Dinner in the hotel courtyard with menu and theme atmosphere.
  • Recreational show with local artists.

Day 2. Big rock:

  • 7:30 AM Breakfast at Hotel Villa La Gran Piedra.
  • You will ascend through a self-guided path composed of 454 steps to the Natural Viewpoint "Gran Piedra". This site is one of the most beautiful natural places in the area known as "the colossus among the clouds"; it is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest rock in the world (1225 meters above sea level) and the third highest in the world.
  • We will descend by the road that leads to the community.
  • Transfer by Jeep to the "La Isabelica" Museum, the first museum founded after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. In this site you will be able to appreciate elements of the original set like the manor house, the storehouse, the kitchen, the drying rooms, the bakery, among others.
  • Visit to the ruins of the old French hacienda La Siberia, today's "Bird of Paradise" ornamental plant garden.
  • Agrotourism activities will be carried out depending on the period you visit, such as: preparation of the quarry, organic amendment, sowing of stances, watering, pruning, cleaning of the quarry and care of the plants.
  • Return to the Hotel by Jeep.
  • Check out.
  • Creole lunch at the Villa's restaurant.
  • Transfer in jeep 120 km with destiny to the mountainous Municipality III Front crossing the towns of El Cobre, Jicotea, Dos Palmas, Pilón, Las Coloradas, La Marsellesa, Candelaria, Minas de Cambute, Arroyo Rico, Cruce de los Baños, Filé until arriving at the Hotel El Saltón.
  • Arrival to the Hotel El Saltón, tourist center that is in a conserved natural environment, in their vicinity plantations of the aromatic grain exist.
  • Welcome Cocktail and Check in.
  • Creole dinner.
  • Enjoy the show "Guateque campesino", with artistic talent from the House of Culture of the community, linked to the Mascafé Project.

Day 3. III Front:

  • Visit to "Las Delicias del Saltón" Farm, located 500 m from the hotel (20 min) for the enjoyment of the sunrise in the countryside.
  • Coffee Breakfast with the farmer Juan Manuel Ruiz and his family, where the visitor will exchange experiences of the country way of life.
  • Visit to the coffee plantation, located 150 m from the house, where you will be able to observe, learn and participate in the different activities depending on the stage of the coffee production process. You will be able to participate in the daily tasks of the farmer such as feeding the poultry, milking the cattle and cultural attention to other crops such as food and vegetables.
  • Bathing in the River.
  • Return to the Hotel
  • Transfer by Jeep to the Mausoleum Martyrs of the Third Front Mario Muñoz Monroy, where through a tour with a local guide the visitor will receive all the information of the site. Time for photos.
  • Return to the hotel and check out.
  • Creole lunch at the Hotel Villa El Saltón.
  • Return to the city.
